Christmas Time

I’m in love with Christmas time. I have three weeks to enjoy myself, and I plan to utilize every moment of it. I already started on some of my plans, one of which was to read some books I’ve been intending to read for some time. I thought it would be good to finish off books that I haven’t read, but told myself I would, first. I need to finish this book on Post-Marxism, though I’m not enjoying it really. It’s pretty much a wank fest of his failed organizing, and not so much on theory; hope it gets better. I’ve also decided to read more fiction. I haven’t read any fiction in years, unless you count Toni Morrison and Angela Davis as fiction, which they are, but they were assigned for a class, which doesn’t count. I kind of want to get into children’s books. Yeah, I said it. Children’s book.

Other than that, I want to get my music slection organized and get my exercise schedule figured out for next year. I’ve started my New Year’s resolution early, which is to be in better shape. I asked myself, “Self! wouldn’t it be better if you already met your New Year’s resolution by the 1st of January?!!!???” It’s such a good plan to do it that way. I’ve made such strides! I have my strength back from before I got sick, and I’m running again! I feel good.

1) For those of you who aren’t aware, a couple friends and I are trying to become  screenwriters. It’s been a little less than a year since we started to craft banter into true and ardent stories. Despite the fact that we have lacked focus in our writing, we have still come up with fresh and ingenious ways of constructing a story. Hopefully, with time, these stories can become realities; well, realities in our stories?  Uhh … yeah.

2) I also plan to put some of my ideas on this blog. Initially, I wanted to make this into a photo blog/journal thing, but I can’t find my usb cable to hook up the ol’ camera to the computer, so it will likely be a heterogeneous mix of junk.

3) I recently been watching episodes of the Dean Martin Variety show. I pretty love the concept of the show. It’s just Dean Martin drinking, singing, and cracking jokes on camera. I recently discussed the show with a roomate of mine, only to find out that Dean Martin didn’t really drink; he was just the most convincing swanky drinker out there. Crazy huh!?!? I also appreciate the fact that there were some pretty good skits on the Dean Martin Variety Show which rivaled any of the best comedic skits at the time. One of my favorites is “The Bachelor: Funny he didn’t Marry.” I will admit it’s a little slow and dry, but it was the early 70s. Enjoy!
